How does Q Technology work?
The technology enables air pressure from the main chamber of the tire to expand a secondary chamber, which lifts the studs above the surface of the tread. When road conditions no longer require studs, the air pressure is released to atmosphere and the studs retract below the tread face.
How many times can the system be activated before I need to add air to my tires?
20 to 30 times in normal circumstances.
What if a nail punctures the secondary chamber that holds the studs?
Simply repair the tire from the inside using a plug/patch at a credible tire retailer.
Can Q Technology save our roadways?
Every year, hundreds of millions of dollars of damage are done by conventional studded tires as they grind down our highways. Q tires have studs that need never come in contact with pavement, eliminating that damage.
Can Q Technology help the environment?
Over time, the use of salt and other chemicals that rust vehicles and pollute groundwater can be dramatically reduced.
Can Q Technology save money?
Many drivers change their summer or all-season tires to winter or permanently studded tires when winter weather looms, requiring the purchase of two sets of tires. Q is a year round tire thus eliminating the need for a costly second set.
How do Q tires perform?
When the studs are retracted, Q tires deliver excellent all-season traction, handling, mileage and ride comfort. When drivers confront icy roads, activation of the studs provides the security that only studded tire traction can deliver.
Are Q tires certified under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standards (DOT tests)?
They have passed the most advanced protocol of the FMVSS 139 (DOT) Test.
